Peter is the owner and tattoo artist at Body Art Studios. He was introduced to tattooing at a very young age. He started designing tattoo flash
for extra money while in high school. During this time while
visiting numerous tattoo shops, trying to sell his art, he found
some of the tattoists he met showed an interest in his artistic
skills and many often tried convincing him to learn how to tattoo. "I remember this one
tattoo artist sitting me down and actually showing me the proper
way to hold the machine, and all the do's and don'ts involved.
I spent hours that day just watching and learning, but at the
time I had no intention of ever becoming a tattoo artist. About a year later a friend
convinced me to buy a tattoo machine and some ink and give it
a try. The first time I used the machine I practiced on pigskin.
It took some time to get use to the weight of the machine, but
after a few months I felt pretty comfortable. I started tattooing
friends at first, and after the first couple of clients I realize
I had a passion for inking skin. The human body is the ultimate
canvas, I feel very fortunate to be able to put my art on people.
Now, that was over 20 years ago and you have to realize that
tattooing was not legal in New York untill a few years ago so
here is where I stop talking about the past and bring you to
the present. My favorite clients are
those who know me or who have seen my work and are comfortable
around me. I like my clients to feel completely comfortable and
at ease when they come to me. I've become very close friends
with alot of my customers. Alot of my clients just come by to
vist sometimes, and I hear them telling my other customers how
they've come to the right place. For an artist, it's nice to
hear things like that. I can go on forever about my passion for
this form of art but it would take days, and I'm afraid I would
bore you all."
